Simple done right. Kava Haven is one of those rare alcohol-free spirits that holds up on its own — bright lemon, gentle earthiness, and the tongue-tingling warmth of kava root. Chuala Proper tonic adds the bite and texture that make a highball feel like a real drink. Two kinds of bitters pull it together: Old Fashioned Aromatic for depth and spice, Orange Cardamom for citrus lift. Add Meyer lemon syrup and you've got layers. Add yuzu if you have it. Either way it works.

This is the drink for a slow afternoon or an easy weeknight. Mellow, refreshing, and functional — kava brings a calm buzz that's grounding without being sedating.

What's inside:

• Kava Haven (kava-infused alcohol-free spirit, 750ml)
• Chuala Proper Tonic Water (4, 8 oz cans)
• Portland Syrups Meyer Lemon Syrup (12 oz) - Not pictured
• All the Bitter Old Fashioned Aromatic Bitters (2 oz)
• All the Bitter Orange Cardamom Bitters (2 oz)

Recipe: Combine 1 oz Kava Haven, ½ oz Meyer lemon syrup, 5 dashes Aromatic bitters, and 3 dashes Orange Cardamom bitters in a shaker with ice. Shake briefly. Strain into a Collins glass over fresh ice. Top with 4 oz Chuala Proper tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a lemon wedge. Add ½ oz yuzu juice if you have it. Recipe from All The Bitter.

Why this works: Tonic's quinine bitterness and carbonation do real structural work in a zero-proof drink — they replace some of the weight and bite that alcohol normally provides. The double bitters build complexity without adding effort. Kava Haven does the rest.
