Black Butte Porter is the best-selling craft porter in the United States. Deschutes has now made it without the alcohol — and it's still recognizably Black Butte. Rich and roasty, with milk chocolate up front, hazelnut in the middle, and a light coffee note at the finish. The body is smooth and slightly doughy, the bitterness is right, and nothing about it feels like it's trying to compensate.

Style: Non-Alcoholic Porter
Malt: Pale/2-Row, Munich, Dark Chocolate Malt, Wheat, Crystal 75, Carapils
Hops: Cascade, Tettnang
ABV: <0.5%
Calories: ~100 | IBU: 25
Awards: 2024 World Beer Cup Gold, 2024 US Open Beer Championship Gold (Non-Alcoholic Stout/Porter)

Key ingredients: Water, malts (Pale/2-Row, Munich, Dark Chocolate Malt, Wheat, Crystal 75, Carapils), Cascade hops, Tettnang hops, yeast. Alcohol removed via BrewVo® cold dealcoholization process.

Good to know: Contains barley and wheat — not gluten-free. ~100 calories per 12 oz. Brewed in Bend, Oregon by Deschutes Brewery, founded in 1988. Available in single cans and 6-packs.

How to enjoy: Serve at cellar temperature (50–55°F) or slightly cold in a pint glass. Pour down the side to preserve the head. Pairs beautifully with chocolate desserts, grilled meats, BBQ, sharp cheeses, and anything you'd want a hearty dark beer alongside.

Swizzle's Take: There are a handful of NA beers we'd actually order if they were on a bar menu. Black Butte is one of them — it earns its place based on flavor alone, not category.
